Über die argentinische HipHop- und Reggae-Szene hört man hierzulande zugegeben nicht sonderlich viel. Beschäftigt man sich mit dem Sound der aus Buenos Aires stammenden MC Alika und ihrer Nueva Alianza, macht das aber definitiv Appetit auf mehr. 1994 machte Alika gemeinsam mit einer Band erste Steps im Musikbusiness, startete aber bald darauf als Solokünstlerin durch. Irgendwo zwischen Reggae, Dancehall und Rap schuf sie sich ein eigenes Soundbild, mit dem sie zur Repräsentantin ihres Landes werden sollte. Dabei bleibt Alika bis heute Independent-Künstlerin und schreckt in ihrer Musik auch vor unbequemen Themen wie Kritik an sozialer Ungerechtigkeit nicht zurück.
