Im April 2020 veröffentlichte Enny ihre Debütsingle „She’s Not Into You„, es folgte die sanfte, jazzige Single „For South„. Beide Tracks verstärkten wie ein Vorläufer die ergreifende und kraftvolle Botschaft von „Peng Black Girls“, das in Zusammenarbeit mit der R&B-Künstlerin Amia Brave entstanden ist. Diese Hymne ist ein beeindruckendes künstlerisches Statement. Enny beschreibt es selbst wie folgt:
„Peng Black Girls is an ode to being multi-dimensional. We can be classy cultured or hood, but there’s no right or wrong way to be a black girl/woman. Society and your own culture will tell you you’re not beautiful because your skin is a certain shade, or your features don’t look a certain way.“
Jüngst entstand mit Jorja Smith ein beeindruckender Remix: „Having Jorja on the remix is gassy! Her verse is cold, like, she’s really saying something. But the organic nature of how everything came to be makes me treasure it even more.“ Enny ist sich der Verantwortung der Message ihrer Musik bewusst und betont daher:
„I think the music scene in the UK, especially with black artists, is very young and in a very important moment where there’s a shift taking place where the music is getting stronger and there’s so much more than just one sound, more than just grime or hip hop, there’s an array of sounds.“
Obwohl heute die britische Rap-Szene immer noch stark von Männern dominiert wird, ebnen junge Künstlerinnen wie Lady Leshurr, Little Simz und natürlich Enny herself den Weg für eine florierende britische Female*MC Zukunft.
Die Londonerin ist inspiriert von Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Nas, Stevie Wonder, Tupac, Kano und J Cole. „I fell in love with J Cole’s artistry at like 14 and became obsessed.“ Ennys aktuelle Lebensphase charakterisiert sie selbst mit den Lines aus „Wings“ von Little Simz: „But now I know that I just gotta be thankful / Blessings every day, shit, I’ve got my hands full / Lessons every day, I’m learning for more angles / Mum, stop stressing over shit that I’ma handle.“
